ILLUMINATION STUDIES
Various studies suggest that good lighting at the workplace pays dividends in terms of improved productivity and a reduction in errors. For example, in the ILO Manual, it indicates that improved lighting in some factories resulted in a 10% increase in productivity and a 30% reduction in errors.
Purpose of Illumination Survey
- To check the compliance of the requirement of illumination level specified in State Factory Rules. E.g. In Maharashtra, Rule 35 of MFR1963is a guideline and the minimum level is specified.
- To check the adequacy of illumination in every work area, as different work areas require the different degree of lighting.
