It is a user-friendly tool for evaluation of fire & explosion hazards in chemical process industries. This method was introduced by the Dow Chemical Company for fire and explosion hazard analysis.
As an extension of the Dow Fire and Explosion Index, the concept of Mond Index was developed to take into account the toxicity effects of a chemical in storage for classification of hazards.
